CONTRIBUTING ELEMENTS
TO A CHURCH PLANTING MOVEMENT
1. BROAD BASED PRAYER SUPPORT
Over 1000 prayer partners, both national and US.
2. HEART LANGUAGE
Evangelism, discipleship, and leadership training are all done is the Miskito language. It is tempting to use only the market language (Spanish), but it is a shortcut that becomes a long detour.
3. SCRIPTURE FOCUSED
Strong emphasis on the Bible, Jesus Film, and storying based evangelism and
discipleship. When there is an issue or controversy, we ask what does the Bible say?
(i.e. baptism, marriage, ordination of pastors, etc.)
4. DRIVEN BY EVANGELISM
Evangelism is the first step in everything and the results of everything. We have only one
program, “evangelism”. Everything else are just “projects”.
5. CELL GROWTH
Village Cell Growth – Cell growth based on family networks in small rural villages.
Church is established with earliest believers in village.
Local leaders identified from the beginning.
Beginning discipleship done by Miskito leaders from other villages.
First unit structure is an open shed built by local believers with help from neighboring village believers.
U.S. Volunteers assist in church construction only after established congregation
makes a considerable sacrifice.
6. MULTIPLE LAY LEADERSHIP BASE.
Multiple leaders even in small congregations.
Commitment to be a leader is the only criteria for leadership training.
Church planters assigned to new villages even if not fully trained.
7. STRATEGIC PLANNING SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH NETWORK GROWTH.
Targeting of strategic villages.
Utilization of family and friends networks.
Flexibility in plans to allow the Holy Spirit to work even outside the plans.
