International Mission Board – 1980 to present

 
The Palmers were appointed by the International Mission Board in 1980 to serve as Coordinators of Christian Social Ministries in Honduras. In 1990, the International Mission Board asked them to be the first missionaries to return to Nicaragua after 12 years of revolution and civil war. In Nicaragua, they served as Evangelism and Church Planting Consultants and as Mission Administrator. In 1999, the Palmers felt the call to return to church planting and moved to Puerto Cabezas to facilitate a church planting movement among the Miskito People. They have two children; Jeremy married to Summer Gilbert and Rebekah, married to Chris Happel. Jeremy and Summer are living in Waco, Texas where Jeremy is attending seminary at George W. Truett Theological Seminary and Summer is working in a mother-dayout program. They have two children, Mackenzie (5 yrs) and Luke (2 yrs). Becky and Chris also live in Waco, where Chris is  doing his Family Practice Residency at Hillcrest Baptist Hospital and Becky is working for Child Protective Services. There little girl Coralyn is 1 1/2.

Viola is a graduate of Texas Christian University – BS in Nursing (1993)

Viola is the author of a popular children’s mission book entitled, The Man In the Green Jeep. Her new book, The Daughter of No One will be available July, 2008.
